The psychologist is a mental health professional, responsible for understanding behavior and the human psyche, through communicative, behavioral and observational techniques. For the understanding of mental phenomena and behavior, the psychologist uses the analysis and evaluation of the person's emotions, thoughts, mental schemes and values.

This work makes it possible to recognize, prevent and intervene in mental illnesses, emotional and personality disorders, identifying traumas, the causes of the difficulties felt and allowing a change in behavior.

Crises, emergencies and catastrophes have a great impact on the psychological structure of any individual by the abrupt and sudden rupture with individual routine and expectations of the future. From there, situations of trauma and other emotional and cognitive reactions can arise from the experience (anxiety, anguish, depression, etc.) that condition the person.

In this sense, the Psychologist in these contexts is responsible for providing the first support and monitoring, with a view to developing active adaptation strategies, minimizing the negative impact of the situation, restoring individual functioning and preventing the emergence of psychological symptoms.

The psychology team works in the areas of psychological first aid, crisis and disaster intervention and social intervention.
